Leigh and District

Membership

Membership of Leigh and District u3a costs £18 a year and there's a £1.50 charge for attendance at group functions - this covers venue hire. Most of our meetings are held at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute, Family Welfare Centre, Kingsleigh Methodist Church Community Centre or Holiday Inn Express. Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March the following year.

You can JOIN by post or at a normal Friday Social (1st & 3rd Fridays of each month at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute)

You can RENEW by post or online or at a normal Friday Social

If you do so after 1st March, your subscription covers membership until the end of March of the following year

Please remember to 'Gift Aid' us if you're eligible (on page 2 of the Membership Application form)

Associate Membership

If you're already a full member of another UK u3a, you can join Leigh and District u3a at the reduced rate of £15 pa. This gives you full access to all of our activities, on the same terms as our 'home' members. However you won't be eligible to vote at our AGM.

Reciprocal Membership

We have reciprocal arrangements with two local u3as: Wigan and Ashton-in-Makerfield. This means that, without further subscription charges, Leigh and District members can attend their activities and their members are welcome at ours.
The same terms apply to all. So there may be room hire charges to pay. And some groups or activities may be full and unable to accept any more attendees.

To Join or Renew

  • If joining, download, print and fill in the Membership Form from the button below.
  • Then send it to the address on the form.
  • Payment must be by cheque. Please do not send cash in the post.
  • If you'd like your membership card posted to you, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your form.
  • Otherwise, collect your card from the Membership Secretary at a future Friday Social.

Gift Aid

If your Gift Aid status has changed then you can amend this during online renewals. Otherwise please either inform the Membership Secretary or complete a Gift Aid Form and post or hand it to the Membership Secretary.

Emergency Contact

If you haven't already provided them, please ensure we have your up to date emergency contact details by sending the details below to our Membership Secretary. Alternatively, you can amend these details yourself using our Members Portal.

u3a Matters Magazine

You can change your preference about receiving the u3a Matters magazine by amending your details via the Members Portal. Just go to Update your personal details, tick the Receive u3a Matters magazine? box to receive it or untick it to be removed from the distribution list.
