Leigh and District

Groups

Most of our Group activities are held either at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute, the Family Welfare Centre in the Adult Learning Centre, Kingsleigh Community Centre, Holiday Inn Express or Compassion in Action unless otherwise stated.

If you're new to a group it is always advisable to contact the group facilitator (details provided on group pages) rather than just turn up for the first time, in case there's been a change of venue, time or cancellation for any reason. Please do not contact the venue directly for information, or turn up for a group meeting if you're not sure of the venue, time, day etc.

If you aren’t able to attend a group that you usually go to, can you please notify the Group Facilitator. If several members send their apologies this may enable the Facilitator to cancel the room booking.

Reciprocal Agreements

We have reciprocal agreements with both Wigan and Ashton-in-Makerfield u3as, which means our Leigh & District members can attend Ashton & Wigan activities without having to join either of those u3as (and vice-versa of course). You would still need to pay the relevant group session fees and any trip costs, but you should only need to prove you are a current member of Leigh & District u3a by showing your membership card. Please see the Ashton-in-Makerfield and Wigan web sites for more details about their activities.

Please also see our Groups Calendar which may help in your planning.
