I have provisionally booked 50 tickets for Chess the Musical show at the Plaza Theatre in Stockport which will be performed by the Stockport Operatic Society and I would like to know if you are interested in attending.

Saturday 24^th October 2026 - Matinee performance

Chess is a 1986 musical and the story involves a politically charged Cold War era chess tournament between two grand-masters, one American and the other Soviet, and their fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other.

The best and most popular songs from the musical include “One Night in Bangkok”, “Anthem” and “I Know Him So Well”

Many of you will remember Roger Browne, president of the Stockport Operatic Society, who gave us the Great American Songbook presentation at our Social on Friday 2^nd May 2025 and Not Father O’Malley presentation at the social on Friday 5^th June 2026.

Many of you joined me last year to see the very enjoyable Stockport Operatic Society’s performance of Anything Goes at the Stockport Plaza and I only hope that this year’s performance is as enjoyable.

As the theatre now have a huge demand for the Saturday matinee tickets, I need to know if we still require them, so please can you let me know as soon as possible if you are interested as I’m going on holiday in two weeks and need to confirm our numbers.

Coach will collect us from Leigh Miners at 11.45am. We should arrive at the Stockport Plaza for 12.30/12.45pm and as the show doesn’t start until 2.15pm we should have time for a coffee/drink in one of the nearby establishments. Traffic permitting. Coach will collect us from The Plaza Theatre at 5.00pm.
